Here is an example of the 40% scale model of a car. It is a cross combination of a Bugatti and and a 1933 Ford.

These pages show photos of clay and short movies. Clay is s free form media that molds easily by hand -- a process I call Claydigital.

I've never attempted clay modeling due to time, monetary and material constraints, but how do you make the right side look like the left, vice versa? Is is a mold or just good ol' eyeballin'?

I dont understand how you'd make a mould that would be of any use, it's primarily done using a metal frame that corresponds to a grid drawn on the table and by 'eyeballin.'

Hi Guys,
Any model that is hand build will be set up on a gridded modeling board to ensure a reasonable amount of accuracy. The model is blocked in using templates first off then the master side is refined. All changes are then transfered over using form gauges, angle brackets and height gauge or scribing block.

Set points from the master side(drivers side)are put into the passenger side to control the form gauge when modeling.

Here is a link to a scale model in progess, unfortunately the model has been on hiatus for six months due to current work load but it will be continued as soon as possible.

Manolo Design you may find this post helpful in your search for clay, on the blog Metamorphosis

How were you able to work the foam so well? I use the same foam and find it very hard to sculpt or work with to get decent shapes. Any info would be great!

Cut the foam with 5 axis cnc mill. Example link to 5 axis 30 second video. 5 axis basketball north pole little movement but at equator big movement head swings and table moves. Axis X,Y,Z,A,C
