Hi, have anybody here heard about this process? I need to make mould from 3D computer model (ProEngineer). Any webpage? Any information about synthetic wood(woodplast?). Thanks,
I think the material you may be talking about is RenShape Tooling Board. This material is very stable and is used for high end prototype tooling. It is also used for scale model hard parts and detail pieces that would otherwise be difficult and time consuming if made in an alternative material such as clay. Check out the link provided and see if this is what you are looking for.
Mike it is difficult to give you advise, because it is not clear what kind of model you are going to machine. Some cheap modeling boards are not very stable. It depends on the cost of your project.Ciba composites, Amber composites or advanced composites make various types of board. I have made cheap models out of MDF and after it is machined you coat it expoy resin and rub it done sand it done with various grades of fine sand paper
If you have the math surface or stl data I can mill foam tooling board. Very nice prototype tooling of hard parts. CNC mould or part cutting examples at http://www.millit5.com/index2.html
