You are true Porsche's history is racing but what kind of racing ?..NASCAR??,RALLY racing???,,,No i don't like those kind of racing for Porsche!!. Porsche is not Toyota or Ford or Dodge !!! Can you remember Porsche 911 GT1 in Leman 24 hours racing in june 14 1998 ?? in 1998 i was 11 years old but i can remmember 911 GT1 became first. Porsche should goes to this kind of racing like 24 hours Leman and Porsche super Cup and... let look closer Why other supercars company stay developed the super cars?? Ferrari and Lamborghini and other still developing the super cars?? because they know their customer like supercars. i want to say if porsche change the way of designing the cars and history and build 4 door sedan or SUV and this type of car it become a normal name and normal car like Toyota or Bmw or mercedes-benz. i know Porsche customers and me really love 911 GT3, 911 turbo, 911 carrera, Cayman S, Boxster S and Porsche Carrera Gt and other Porsche but i think many of them don't like panamera.I'm not hopeless if Porsche goes to NASCAR with panamera i just don't like Porsche name for Panamera but i belive it will be the best sedan in the world.anyway Panamera will produce and will show in paris autoshow 2006 and i still love Porsche like u.

Thanks JD + Coke for the images. You are really young Salar, I guess this is the reason why you are so insistent with the idea the Cayenne and Panamera will dumb-down the Porsche name.

This is of the Ardennes Bleu Rally in Belgium back in 2005. Driver, Marc DUEZ, is a former Rally Champion notably Porsche 911, who got back Porsche into Rally driving (Group N) together with the Porsche Importeur in Belgium.]

Panamera Sports Coupé to be Built in Leipzig

Stuttgart. The Board of Management of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, Germany, has taken the decision to build the four-door Panamera at the Company's Leipzig Plant. To build the Panamera, which is currently under development and is scheduled to enter the market in 2009, in Leipzig, Porsche will be expanding the Plant significantly. The plans involve construction of a new Production Hall with an area of approximately 25,000 square metres or 269,000 square feet and, at the same time, the extension of the existing Assembly Hall by the addition of a Pilot and Analysis Centre as well as a Workshop for Apprentice Training. A Logistics Centre covering an overall area of 30,000 square metres or 323,000 square feet will also be built in the direct vicinity of the new Hall. Subject to approval by the authorities, construction is to start this September. The overall investment in new buildings and production facilities amounts to 120 million Euros

yes, i used to be like all you pursits who bemoan the efforts of enthuisist marquees like porsche "expanding their portfolio," and taking resources away from their traditional niche. but, that is the reality of big business these days. and to produce high quality cars in the numbers that porsche does, you have to be a big business. any large corporrations goal is not to just make money, but to expand and increase profits every year. People are investing in you, and if you don't show them considerable gains, they will put their money in something that does. I guess all you can do is take solice in knowing that the money being made off all those automatic cayannes is being used in part to fund increased development of future 911's and such.

So you're admitting that Porsche has to change, but then you say it should change by doing what they've always been doing and remain the same? Not the strongest argument.

And your assumption about noone being able to recognize the Cayenne or Panamera w/o seeing the Porsche badge is completely unfounded. My friends and I would be able to (and have) instantly recognize those vehicles as Porsche. Whether or not they were well-executed in design is a diff. argument.

I don't know if you know this, but Porsche's goal IS to become like Mercedes and BMW in the fact that they have both successfully broken into the mainstream. But that doesn't mean they'll stop making 911's or Carrera GT's (meaning the next supercar). No matter how much you love the Porsche name, you have to get it through your head that first and foremost they are a business. And businesses operate for one true purpose only, profit!
