Hey, Philthy, you're not the first one I've run into that worships anything from the house of Break My Window. Who cares how much panel sharing there is betwixt coupe and sedan? It's still just a 3 with a coupe roof.
If they come out with a station wagon, you'll be in here touting that as the Second Coming. Get a grip, man. If you want to comment, do it on something significant.

Remember: the German manufacturers do not make Station Wagons. They make "Estates", "Tourings", and "Avants".

Looks alittle bloated, esp from rear view. There is something odd about the proportions. Kinda reminds me of the 1 series coupe sketches.
The rear has a Toyota "quality" to it. I thought the last generation 3 Series looked like the rounded Civic(maybe 3 generations ago)
The sharp creases in the front to create that upside down trapezoid is unnecessary and amateurish.
Maybe this BMW looks decent cause the others have looked so bad. Still looks like a student designed it though to me...

There was a lot more "ass" in that post Jaybird. Not enough smart though. All I'm asking is you explain to me what you expect from a car called the 3 series coupe - pointing out that it's a "3 with a coupe roof" kinda makes you captain obvious. This car shares the same platform as the sedan but has its own look, at least in my opinion (and the majority opinion by the looks of it).

Hey, I made a comment and got name-called for it. OK, I name-called you back, but now you want to continue. Well, as Arnold says, "talk to the hand."
End of story.

At first glance it looks like it's saying luxury tourer, instead of sporty coupe; Particularly since Bangles flame surfacing and dashing lines aren't prominent. Two things that I question after seeing these images: (1). Why did they need to change the front lights from the sedan? Individuality and distinction between the two is my guess. I love the flaming orange turn indicators flanking the head lights on the sedan, I don't see them on the coupe in these pics.
this is the UK model, their indicators are clear, ours (america) will be orange

In my opinion that´s not the direction BMW should go, I think the time of the design innovations of the last 4 years is over.
I thought BMW could be a future brand in design, but BMW has reacted, because all of this silly people who want this old and boring design.
BAngle should go to a different company.

Pure photo analysis. I'm looking at the front of the car. Nice bonnet(hood) lines although very un-BMW, like the lower bumper, like the tone of the grill not necessary the shape but what on earth are those head lamps about??? Far better looking that the saloon. Typically agressive, stylish but terrifying ugly Banger face on it. Looking at the side now, Mercedes-Benz CLS wannabe hip line. Liked those on the CLS and the ones on this brings the paint out as well. Nice shape, smooth design, very conservative for a Banger but looks less sportier that the E46. From the side the designs tell me more of a 2 door variant of a 4 door car in the sense that it is as sporty (or a just a little more sportier) as the 4 door but more stylish. On the E46 the 2 door is a lot more sporty. From the rear.Love the lower bumper line and the distance and size of the two exhaust. The shape is conservatively nice(good to lower and put custom wheels) and the hip line from the rear quarter look even more CLS'ish now. Rear very conservative for a Banger. Those lights look like they came from a Honda. Far better looking than the 4 all around. Suppose to be anyway.

i'm glad many posters have reminded us that these are only "jpeg observations" - final statements should be made while viewing "metal and glass."
Simple question for all of you - What looks better? New 3-series coupe or Infiniti/Nissan G35 coupe (4-year-design)
