It looks a lot more feminine that the E46 and the G35.

Cool

It disapoints like the 3-series sedan.
Expecting more brave styling like the 7, 6, 5 and z4.

But the 3 series is the top seller at bmw. Why risk sales?

i feel like bmw was holding back with these
bmw stayed with the 3 series formula unlike the 5 6 7 and z4,
compare the last gen 3 and this one, they have very common features

I really like the new 3 coupe. It is similar to the previous generations simplicity and it looks very sporty. It will be a hit (like always, lol)

Earlier in this revived thread, I asked why BMW didn't incorporate more of the "attached trunklid" design element on either 3-series.

I guess 2 reasons:
- Bangle and boyz DID say that they wanted to move away from the "1 sausage, 3 lengths" philosophy.
- Yes, the 3-series is their best seller and don't want to be too controversial.

But on the streets, I now see the '07 version of the most-sold-car-in-the-world (Toyota Camry) and wonder why this design element wasn't too risky for Toyota.

If you're referring to the trunklid element as a risk for Toyota, it is now no risk for Toyota, Lexus or any other company that implements this design effect on their vehicles. Why? BMW broke that ice what? 4, nearly 5 years ago (2002 7 series). It was then a risk when nobody else was willing to try it. Now 5 years have passed, car buyers have adjusted to, accepted, and like this new styling element as they see it on a growing number of cars from different companies.
