What happened? Their concepts are another story, but their production models have completely backed away from the innovation and creativity they pushed out in the previous 5 years. The new 3 looks good, but it doesn't really offer anything too innovative or exciting. The new 1 series doesn't really appeal to me (boring), and shots of the new 7 series just look like a bigger 3 series. All the drama has been taken out of the designs. What happened to the approach of making each model visually unique (7, 6, 5, z4 from previous years)? Say what you want about Bangle's designs, but it seems BMW has just gone back to the sleepy conservative styling of every other luxury brand. Actually the new Mercedes models seem more dynamic and intriguing to me.

Thats actually the plan for BMW. To go back to the old "boring" look. The shark nose, etc.etc.
To make flame surfacing more refined.
i dont agree with the aproach, but i guess its a way to draw back bimmers old fans...
