Interesting that you say that coz, he graduated in 2005 with me, he had placements with Bee Studio in Turin and Centro Stile Alfa Romeo and Honda Advanced Design!

I think that you are being a bit harsh! Being a designer is about producing ideas, & I think that the ideas for the surfacing come across. The sculpting on the side surface and the highlight (with it's short kick up) just in front of the rear wheel work particularly well! Benedetto - 3 series render Rear three quarter sketchMaybe it is not your cup of tea, but it provoked a reaction. Something that Chris Bangle did not so long ago!

Everyone is right. This guy has had the opportunity to be at Coventry and he simply cannot pull it off. Either his work is half-ass or he just simply doesn't have the talent. Even an amateur like husseindesign is way beyond his level and is more capable of capturing the essence of BMW design.

Maybe I'm being unrealistic but that design shows nothing innovative or new. It's just a rehashed BMW 3 series with slightly different body form, this being due to the poor rendering. I mean when I think of BMW design I think of signature body structures with sharp engineered lines. I think this is the direction BMW should proceed in. When you look through some of the portfolios on CDN there's plenty of designers that understand BMW's design identity, which I think is absent in the work posted. Why don't they just look on toyfon.com because this guy could create something much more challenging and interesting which I think car design needs. I'm just so bored of seeing generic car design that doesn't challenge formidity. If this design came out it would do nothing new for BMW but promote minor changes, which we've seen many times over. What we all should do as designers is create nothing but concepts that accelerate the progression of body styling, because at this rate we'll be in 2012 and companies like Mercedes will have changed nothing more than the shape of there headlights. www.olivercartwright.com

Yes and your response to the state of car design is terribly vapid.

Vapid, vapid... that means cool right? I guess it's the opposite of putting some dreadful 'art' on ebay and setting up a different account to bid on it? In that case, Im vapid out my nut.
