I'm new in this forum and I obviously focus on compact sport cars and Kei cars. I'm a high school student who has never taken art classes and would like to make my designs a reality. So here's one of my designs. Car of today on the bottom, somewhat a view of Car of tomorrow.

Here's the blueprint of the future model. A test of my geometry skills.

A bit more info about me:
15 years old
No Art classes ever to this day.
I freehand except for blueprints/2d drawings.
I don't use perspective points, I just keep going until I think that's that.
Would love your design advice.
Unable to go to an Art Center of Design due to financial issues so I would love information on alternative colleges.
Had the compact with rear engine cars guidelines figured out since I was 9 and barely noticed I was even using it for my designs.

i know you're young, so most importantly, practice. it's the only way. as far as your design goes? ricing out a car is not futuristic design. vents and wings are only accessories. if you want to talk future, talk form, and then you'll see that the car's form is very plain and not what-so-ever futuristic.

also, i see you your bio you said "had the compact with rear engine cars guidelines figured our since i was 9 and barely noticed i was even using it for my designs."
don't get ahead of yourself. judging by what you're showing, you clearly DO NOT have that platform figured out. you're trying to do compact cars? have you ever stood beside a ferrari or lambo in person? yes, they are very low... but they are long and wide. the point is, you cant try to package like a small compact car and a low supercar at the same time. they're conflicting interests.

anyway, stick around, you'll learn a lot. and like a side, keep practicing, you have tons of time.

no offense, but your designs look like what a middle school kid would drool over. i'm not trying to be harsh, but your cars look squashed and cartoon-formed, and as mentioned it has no design innovations but air vents and pocessions of a riced up 350z. you might want take a look at other people's design and learn about design and the basic structures and proportions of a "compact car"

My point in this car is not to design a super car but just a car that's different. My interests are only in compact sports cars inspired by Japanese cars. I was never interested in exotics. I started with a 4-door saloon inspired by the STi then moved down to a 2-door then to a compact 2-door. Now I'm trying to think of being more realistic. My features for this particular model is 2-seater, all electrical, air cooled engine. The glass top thing is ganna change soon. I'm still thinking about how the top will be. Like I said, advice would be good.

hey there bro, their comment mite seem harsh but u gotta be able to find advices wihtin those comments. some of best advices come from harsh ones. anyways, i will crit wihout putting ur age into consideration so you can get most out of it.

Okay ill start off with good things. It seems like you have decent understanding of how car is shaped and some persepctives. Also, its good htat your lines are not hairy but one straight line.

Okay now to crit it, I think the car is just way too cartoony. It is not imaginative and generic. The car needs to follow the basic guideline and even the most compact car follows the basic guidelines. Also, seems like there is some immaturity going on and it happened to me as well but dont ever think of just saying that the car has electric watever and wat not. dont tell, show it. if i am not convinced then its not working and that is one of the challenges as designers so put that into consideration. also, if you are thinking about going to design school and become designer later on, you better throw out your idea of only liking one style of car. you wont be just desinging suv, sportscars all yuour life so if you just like one type and nothing else, you are in for some trouble. just keep those in consideration and really in ur age, try to fully understand the basic form and proportion of the vehicle. anyways im sure u got lost halfway down this message but really try to understand wat ppl say here and keep it up!

Thanks for all the crits you guys gave me, I'm actually starting to think of more things. For example is putting that front end back on 'cause my point on that was too lessen the weight on the rear. So I guess I'm back to rethinking the whole shape of the car.

your heart is set in the right direction. Try to step up your game a little more. Like taking an actual art class. That will teach little tricks and techniques here and there- which I believe will help your design process and drawing quality overall.

Thank you for your post but taking an actual art class during the past would actually cause a problem here and there unlike now. I plan on taking my first art class in my Junior year this fall. I have also started my own cars from coupes to super cars. I am still making a few tweeks here and there but the interior is somewhat finished and I just need to make a page in my sketchbook with my cars in color.

Another update....the most recent I have designed.

http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6082/dsc00691qs9.jpg

The color was dedicated to my best friend who's always been there for me. As for the wheels, that was designed back during my vacation during the Philippines. The body itself is a hatchback/fastback. Feedback please, thank you.
