Hi guys, I am a software designer from India. Iv completed my engineering in software and now doing a job in system design. Due to some problems I had to do engineering in software, but my passion always lied in art and automobile design. So here's the thing, I am from India and one of my seniors [B.E. ,electronics, graduate] got an admit from National Institute of Design [NID], India for MASTERS IN DESIGN [M.Des.], which is the no.1 institute here in automobile design. The selection criteria here involves giving an entrance test and a studio test. And they accept applications from guys who are not bachelors in design or related majors. So when he got in and got a good job after his masters, I thought that I can dump this career in software development and still have a good chance at automobile design. So I am preparing to give an entrance test fod NID this fall to get into it next year. However, I am also looking for opportunities in colleges in US, Europe and Japan for doing a masters there. I wouldn't mind doing a bachelors again [if its a good design course with good employment prospects] if its for a max of 3 years. If the course term is more, it will be highly impossible for me to afford the fees for all 3-4 yrs. So the only reason I am preferring masters is coz of the lesser number of years involvled. I really want to be an automobile designer and can go to "ANY" lengths for that. Also I believe that I can struggle hard even in a mediocre college and still make it into good companies. I have the potential and drawing skills for that. I would also like to know what kind of portfolio should I prepare [I have some 7 months for that] while I am running solo.. So please take your time to analyse this rather "extremely unusual" situation and give me your views of what to do [some affordable university or course suggestions would be great] . My budget in mind is 40,000 USD for the whole length of the course, and I wouldnt mind choosing from any good college all over the world. Thanks a lot for listening to my dilemma

Can we see some sketches at least? Im out of the school loop, someone here might know more regarding this but here goes. Lets say you came to US to study, lets say ACCD. I would imagine you would have to start over again. 40K? Yikes! Not sure if that will cover half these days. I could be wrong....
I would avoid limiting yourself at this point, there really are not that many schools anyway. In general European schools are cost less than US but you might luck out and get a nice scholarship so who knows Umea and phorziem sp? have negligible tuition. realize it is very hard and expensive to make it as a designer and while school is part of that your talent and ability to get better are more important. As far has masters programs/shorter period of study unless you are near set of a professional designer the day you start I wouldn't recommend it, it just places you at a disadvantage against every other student graduating at the same time with the full period of study. As a matter of fact many students in trans programs around the world already have a design degree before they start and are earning their second degree.
ya i meant i can afford a total tution fees of 40k $... can u suggest me a single course [which falls under a period of 3 yrs and under that budget for all years.. ] which will be helpful to me just to get a good start in the auto industry..
