if you've read it clearly, the only thing that has been changed is the electives! not the major courses! BACK to the beginning of what i've said. basically once students who are admitted into ACCD will start off in TRANS and there will be no cuts to transfer any of its student into a MORE specific focus like AUTOMOTIVE design where you only focus in cars, NOT planes NOT bikes NOT trains or boats and etc... at CCS, every year, the school makes 50% cut of the entire TRANS class, to choose the best design students in trans and transfer them into AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN. THIS IS A FOCUS MAJOR! ONLY CARS, NOTHING ELSE. the rest stays in trans. THAT MEANS 50 percent will take trans and other 50% will takes AUTOMOTIVE design next year. at ACCD, theres no CUTS. basically, you start off as a freshman taking TRANS design from in to out! simple as that. AUTOMOTIVE AND TRANS ARE DIFFERENT COURSES! http://www.artcenter.edu/datalog/ProgramResults.jsp?trkn=Transportation

you just dont give up. that is the updated curriculum. you cant see the old curriculum because they edited it. common sense. theres a mobility and an automotive track now at artcenter, much like ccs' trans and auto programs. and yes there are differences in major courses now. in fact the electives have not been changed. you would see that if you bothered to read. just like how i am now seeing that at ccs, only 4 classes make the automotive program different from the trans program, the junior and senior studios from fifth through eighth semester.
this is the most ridiculous 'discussion' ive had in my life. all you are doing is ranting and raving. its so simple to let loose on a forum. its really embarrassing, and shows you have zero maturity.

so they NOW have a mobility course and automotive course? do all students at ACCD take both courses or you can select upon the one or they select for you?

the students choose. the new curriculum has only recently been implemented, so time will tell how it turns out...
btw, to the original poster - artcenter does weed out a lot of people the first few terms, and even transfers some to product. no difference there from ccs.

Really?? So how does that work out exactly, is it based on a review of each student at the end of the year or something like that? Oh and how far are you into the program there at art center? One of my CCS buds transferred over there, I'm wondering if you know him. I believe he's a sophomore now, Douglas Chan.

at the end of every other term there are portfolio reviews, but you can also submit your portfolio at the end of every term to get more scholarship. usually they switch people around after second term.
im starting this fall, but have been taking classes for about five years. ive heard the name doug chan, ill keep an eye out.

u have to go thru 2 terms in order to get acadimic probation. if u git ap then u gotta take a leave of absense for like a year or so in order to come back.

Okay, I just saw this topic and I don't mean to take a side on this heated discussion...
I just want to say to cel2000xl, cardesign85 and evo_vii that we will be classmates on Fall 07!
It'll be a bit harsh for me, you know. Moving to another country is really freaking me out, but I intend to work hard and get good things accomplished. I think you guys are a bit ahead of yourselves in discussing which school turns out the best designers. There's plenty of room in the industry for those who work hard and stand out.
It's funny because the automotive design field seems to me like a "secret society". There's no information on how many people are working there, how much they get paid, from which schools they came from... I never met a designer that shared anything on the internet, maybe you have to take an oath of never revealing the secrets of the job...
Jokes aside, I don't mean to argue which is best, CCS or ACCD, I met both schools' admissions counselors and ACCD pleased me more. I already hold a BA degree and it seemed to me that at CCS I would have to study 2 years of the basics all over again without knowing if I would go to Auto Design, and in ACCD I know I'll study it from day 1. Also, LA seems to me like a much nicer place to live than Dtroit.
So, here I go! See you in September!
