read the letter below and see if you can help me. I sent this to the art center college of design in california but i havent gotten any information back so maybe someone here can help me...



To whom it may concern:

my name is Austin Cox, and I am extremely interested in becoming a future student of yours as a part of your Transportation Design program. I am writing you now as a sophmore in high school because I am unsure whether I should apply to become a student at The South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities. I have wanted to design cars ever since I was in the fifth grade, and I feel that I should take the right steps to help me eventually get into the Art Center. For your Transportation Design course, is a visual art backround more important than an engineering backround, and therefore the Governors School more appropriate, or should I focus more on the engineering and computers aspect at my local high school? I have always been strong in the visual arts, and I have been accepted and participated in the Governors School's summer programs, but I am also strong in the mathematical and technological side of design. I have taken summer programs at Clemson University for math and science, and I have used 3D cad systems such as Autodesk Inventor and Solid Edge by Siemens Software. I feel that if I go to the governors school, I may lack the computer skills that I can obtain from my local high school's engineering program, which cooperates with the Hamilton Career Center. I do not want to miss out on the governors school, though, if it will look great on my application to the Art Center.

I think the art program will be more beneficial for you. You are trying to get into a creative field after all, so why not go with the more creative route in highschool?
