I currently finish my SPM (In malaysia its the same as O levels) i was wondering what a-level subject combinations did all of you take before pursuing ur car degree? I am interested in the atomotive design course at coventry. They told me that i can take ANY a-level subject i want.. but that sounds very vague. Im worried! HelP!!
How many do you have to take? Its advised that a design or art based subject is the most important option. I dont know what list of subjects you have to choose from but any kind of 3D design based course will put you in good stead. Many people at Cov did Art, Design Technology and Physics or maths or some sort of engineering. Physics, maths and engineering can help if you want more of a engineering based routway once your at cov. Overall, id make sure the design element exists then maybe some other subjects completely different that interest you so you dont limit your options in later life. Dont worry too much about it as its your portfolio thats gets you in and on your way.
Sadly, Malaysia does not have any Art N Design for A Levels. they only have the traditional subjects. So i think i might have to take some art classes outside to get a cert. Ive decided to take probably Maths/Physics together with Economics or Accounting i guess.
Well like I said its your portfolio thats the most important factor of getting into Cov so perhaps just an evening class in art/design is a good idea. Are A levels your only option at college? Are there any other sort of qualifications available which do have an Art element? Overall I wouldnt worry just make sure you keep sketching as much as possible in order to build a good portfolio of work.
