1965 was long time ago and it seemed like competition in this field was less intense as you said. Could this be absolutely true? When not that many auto companies had their own studios but outsourced it to a few carozzerias abroad yet there were ACCD churning out dedicated trans guys and many other ID schools churning out ID guys to whom auto maker studio's door was more open with flexibility at that time.
Well better hear about this from aflo or any living legends from that era.

Hotshoes and Tixx> I agree to your advices to go to ACCD instead of AAU. Besides the steep competition, my biggest dilemma right now is the money. Even in case I get into ACCD, I can't afford it without my parents cosigning and they don't want to. I have to cross out all the Federal grants since this is my second B.A... This is why I am looking seriously into AAU's second B.A in trans. If what aflo said about more and more AAU graduates being spotted here there regardless of number is really true, I feel I should go to AAU and start my study and transfer to ACCD.

cyrusyn,
Actually I graduated in 1964 and it was a very competitive environment at that time. ACCD, CCS, Cleveland and, to a certain extent Pratt, were the top Automotive Design schools, feeding graduates to the big three plus American Motors, all in the Detroit area. The Europeans and Japanese (schools and companies) weren't a factor at that time but the bar was very high and influences like Sid Mead's artwork was setting the standard for rendering and innovation. MOST graduates, even from CCS and Art Center were having to take jobs in lesser capacities, like auto suppliers, ID firms, etc.
I suggest that Tixe take a look at one of my threads on this forum to see what I was producing back then in terms of artwork and design: http://forums.cardesignnews.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/61760917/m/4711036292
Then, if he has the balls, maybe he will post some of HIS stuff from back when he was in the industry, before he apparently washed out. This crap about aninimity doesn't wash.
