Hi krapuu, yes we're gonna meet in person
Thanks again angela for posting, we need this post. I think the primary objective of the meeting is to "warm us up" upon getting in, talk about ideas and sharpening up techniques if possible. The meeting is also open for those seriously trying to get into the school, attending ACAN, PCC, and assembling portfolio. If there are any upper term students/professionals interested in checking us out, they're more than welcome, for your insights are invaluable to us.
How about Sunday afternoon the 13th? This July? If that's too early, we can meet on the 20th. I'm thinking the Huntington Library, or Art Center's South Campus if I can manage to ask for permission.
Bring many works, loose sketches and ideation, full-render, your best, most recent, and personal favorites.
Let's keep it casual but productive. Well at least, civilized
The guys/gals online will be kept in light here in CDN.
yep i'm down. i wouldn't want to bring a whole lot of stuff, just a sketchbook and some sketches, maybe a render...I would imagine this being very relaxed and just a fun way to get to know some classmates before school starts and ease our way into the trans environment instead of jumping right in... No need to try to impress anyone. If anyone else would be interested meeting up like once a week or every other week after the 13th i would be interested.
We could meet anywhere really, coffee shop (my fav), library, accd campus somewhere, somebody's house...the bar if your 21? nothing better than napkin sketches.
I just called in South Campus office. Apparently we can always use the "public areas/mezzanine" on the 2nd floor, even on Sundays. Afternoon operating hours on Sundays still need to be confirmed with the campus' security guards, but I'm assuming the latest is around 9PM. I think this is a wonderful opportunity, for everyone interested. Those who are familiar w/ the South Campus, the mezzanine area is where the snack vendor is located. Occasionally transformed into student gallery, usually by Tony Yao's class. We can't request for classroom use, but on Sundays office staff isn't there, and I'm betting the matter is left for the guards discretion. Maybe we can work something out and improvise as we come. I suggest the meeting to start at 530pm-until 7 or 730pm then, on July the 13th?
We can always meet once or twice a week afterward, as needed for progress checking
