I've also seen entrance portoflios from PCC students and they were VERY VERY impressive. I myself am regretting that i chose ACN over PCC when I first came out here.

Stan Kong is teaching rendering in PCC right? He's an ACCD instructor. There's a lot of potentials in his rendering course alone.
and yeah, ACN isn't a guarantee.

Mr. Burns, I didn't get in the first time either (And so some of the best ACCD instructors and designers!). And trust me it was for the best.
1. I had the chance to re-learn everything and really examine my passion and perception about the industry, the stress handling, strategizing financial options, etc.
2. Next time, hit them with both quality AND quantity. Build some models with different materials, utilize different techniques, and sharpen up your marker renders Smile I think one full year will do.

I'll try and see if I can join you later on!

I like astronomy. There's a lot of NASA-JPL-ArtCenter menage-a-trois lately. If you don't know, Caltech is 3 miles away from ACCD. Astrophysics is the BIG ONE in Pasadena's academic community. Smile So, if I were you, I wouldn't waste that bit of interest in the apparently different field... There's also Virgin Galactic in New Mexico, building things that requires interplanetary environmental/mobility designers... Not to mention Hollywood's eternal exploitation of outer space fictions. You won't be out of jobs bc you happen to enjoy Astronomy.

btw, I love your attitude. ACCD or nothing. I'd rather crash and burn myself than to stop going. Cheers.

Good spirit, Burns. Anyhow, you are very young considering the average age of ACCD students.

AMH, what class are you thinking about taking? I too am planning to take some to get prepared for fall. Any suggestions? (I've taken viz comm, intro & interm trans, intro to sketching, & mobility so far)

Will start ACCD in Fall, 08

I took those same classes u took (sans mobility) Smile. I'm not really sure, but if I'm getting back to ACN, I want to get into Tony Yao's "intensive product&trans" class...so, I will try to see a counselor in the south campus today. Wasn't there used to be an interplanetary mobility class in ACN? There are also "adv automotive rendering" 5-days workshop w/ ashcraft, 12-weeks "invention innovation"...
If I am to attend PCC, Id rather consult w/ the daytime counselor first to confirm transferability...maybe knock off some GE classes? what do you think?

nope, I've called them twice and emailed them once. Every time I call they ask me to leave my name and number and they'll get back to me, and so far nothing...

Had the chance to come to ACCD campus last weekend. Angeladay, it was a pleasure to finally meet you in person. Chatted w/ Mr. Reed over the amount of accepted applicant, which was about 18-20. They accepted less this year after accepting around 25 last year...
Considering the quality of works done by everyone here, maybe I can say that I was considered bc I sent 5 full books of portfolios in total...thats quite a lot compared to others I think.

Really sorry to hear that you didnt get in Mr. Burns. But to be honest...my academic record isnt all that great. I have failed 3 times in the past 5 years. I was bottom in my class in maths and I can tell you that I had no hope of getting into Art Center. But you know what, not only have I been accepted...I just came to know that I've been awarded a scholarship!!
Whatever you do..do NOT give up!!! I nearly did...

What happens if some of the people they accept decide not to attend for that term?

for example, they accept 20 people, 3 decide not to come, so there will suddenly be 3 free spots right? who fills those spots?

AMH, it was also very nice meeting you in person. I didn't get to see your entrance portfolio however. Wink Are you going to come to the Friday financial aid session?

Burns, as all schools would do, I'm sure the school would have admitted more people than then the space available to make up the number of people who will decide not to enroll. After you are accepted, they will want you to to gurantee intent to enroll with a desposit that will go toward the first term tuition.

Will start ACCD in Fall, 08
