I'm completely lost. I want to go for ACCD transportation design in winter but have no idea how to prepare my portfolio.
What types of drawings and sculptures do I need to prepare? Will it be good to prepare only with fine art paintings and sculptures or to do some amatuer design works?
Does ACCD admission people put more emphasis on 3D (say sculptures) than 2D? I have no 3D works yet.
Here is my sample portfolio right now. If you could advice me about what to get rid off and put in to my portfolio, that would be great!
I really need helps from those who have been there and done it.
I'm a fellow korean preparing my portfolio for this fall. So I'm not really experienced to say but...
It seems your english is good enough so why don't you check out ACCD's homepage where they have the requirements for a portfolio listed for every major.
ACCD requires transportation related works for your portfolio. I'm on my third car right now and will be applying before the end of this month. (for me, each car represents 1 project. each project includes ideations, development, variations, and final. starting from sketches using pencil/pen, developing with markers...etc)
Things not related to trans can be submitted though. I think that'd be a plus. I wouldn't worry about 3d stuff if you don't have any.
prepare 4+ projects on your design theory of different cars for different consumers within the next x amount of years. its like a thesis project, except you have to do 4+. sketches, marker rendering, alias if you can... show them your best work skills. so if you suck in alias, dont bother showing them... gluck.
Thank you very much for your replies. I am confidant only in sketching using pencil and photoshop. I have no experience in 3D programs and just began to use marker.
I'm afraid that not enough experience like this would hurt a lot.
i see your portfolio, love the way how you change forms. that is very important. only suggestion would be porportion. grab a robinsion dvd on car sketching. 30 bucks and you're ready to go.
Thanks a lot for your compliment, cardesignboy. By saying "you love the way I change the forms", I feel like your talking about my cell phone sketches.
About the proportion, haven't you confuse it with perspective by any chance? I am not convinced about proportion being off on those two unconventional concept cars because there isn't a standard to which their proportions can be compared to. Advice me.
