If you can do the foundation in Coventry you will be able to learn from people who are on the course and, and the course tutors.
You probably wont do cars till about half way through (although the course will have changed a lot since I did it). Get in touch with Coventry Uni to see what they recommend.
A group of people always do the foundation aiming to move on to Automotive, Transport or Product design, so there will be a good number of you with the same interests. Im not sure if you will be able to do the same at a college/Uni that doesn't have the same focus on Automotive etc.
The other thing is that at some point, Im not sure when because as I say the ourse has changed, their will be sketch classes you can go along to. This will allow you to get ready for the course, and help with any other projects in the mean time.
Check with the Uni's straight away, and don't give up if this is reallt what you want to do!

flair, although liverpool is the greatest city in the world, second only to widnes town, I would recomend doing foundation at coventry. New fee's will make it difficult tho, so on a learning side do it in cov, on a financial and enjoyable side, go liverpool. I'f theyve allowed you in on your grades and your portfolio, ring em, theres people on the course without the grades, and theres people on the course without the skills. Me? I'ld stay in lpool. Join uni new like everybody else and not in a foundation clique. those results aint bad tho.
great socks, great times

If you do the foundation course at Coventry, it guarentees acceptance onto the degree course of your choice... ie Auto Design! If you do the foundation at another uni, you will still have to go through the same apps process, and still may not get accepted.... At least, that's they way they used to do it at Cov... and probably still do.
Anyways, you might still have a palce on the degree course yet... let us know.
Nickos - you're right dammit, aaaaar... darn thoes sh*t-in-a-tray merchants!
Facial Spew - 'Dull'... how daaaaaare you, lol. (Cover your eyes Alias... don't listen to that nasty man on CDN!)

Sometimes I sneak into Alias's room at night and whisper things into its ear: "everything designed with you looks the same, NURBS are limiting imaginative design, youve given crap designers the ability to make glossy renderings of their gash designs" and then go back and snuggle up to my two lithe beauties Photoshauna and 3DSMaxine, rrrrrRRRROWWWlllll.

Nice one!
Now all you have to do is keep sketching, find somewhere to live and get ready to start the course!

It's true, you will look at your first few weeks and wonder what is going on 'why aren't we designing cars already?' etc...
Just remember that this is the time to try to get to know people, go out and have laugh. You can always draw away from Uni, and if your lucky There might be some sketch classes (Im sure Facial Spew will tell you about the joys of 'Birchy')!
Hope it goes well for you!
