hey burns, just keep working on your stuff dude. Continue to study, not just car design but also look into product as well.
Don't worry about what your friends say, it doesn't really matter, you are working on YOUR career and goals in life.
If design is what you want to do, just go for it. If your having doubts of doing other things, like being an accountant for example, then its something you have to examine in yourself.
well there isn't anything to drop out of in the first place.
IDK what to feel at the moment. It's a mix of confusion, excitement, depression, and looking forward to it.
i.e. one day it's like "yes I'm going to own this thing" and another it's like "I'm not so sure".
Of course when I was in college doing engineering it was always "I hate this **** and why the hell did I go into it I'll be so happy when I'm out" and now that I'm out it's not as satisfying as I thought. I'm confident that if I go back I will still be depressed.
Our damn society always encourages following the crowd and it pisses me off. It seems to be the only way to go I guess.
what I have motivation/desire for I have no support, and the thing for which I have no motivation/desire I have a lot of support. It's a crappy situation to be in.
IDK I'm probably starting to piss you guys off with these threads lol
i've seen the work you've posted... its good stuff. certainly better than many people who are already at design schools. i think you're being to hard on yourself.
however, the bottom line is that if you don't believe in yourself and your quality or work, well then you'll never make it at car design, much less any career. at some point you just have to push everything to the back burners and go for what you want to do. chances are if you do go into trans design, you'll loose track of all of those "friends" who are doubting you anyway. and i say "friends" because they don't really sound like true friends. you'll find a whole new group of people who actually support what your doing once your at school. ask anyone here who is currently at a design school, and they'll all tell you the same thing. you have to make sacrifices, but most importantly, you have to be confident in what you're doing and develop a solid work ethic. judging by your sketches, you have the talent part down, which is really like 75% of the battle. i suppose its up to you if you're willing to work for the other 25%.
life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react do it. i forget who said that, but seriously, don't put much worth into what other people tell you, chances are, they don't have your best interests at heart.
hey burns, you read my mind: 'i.e. one day it's like "yes I'm going to own this thing" and another it's like "I'm not so sure".' I couldnt agree more...
I think my (or our) only concern should be: work hard, draw, practice! then, we'll see...
hey...i hav a chance to get a degree in product design in one year frm raffles or cavalry singapore, is it possible. They r also giving me a chance to get masters in design in cavalry without having to do degree....is this a valid....am really confused or let me say amazed..wat u think bout it ?
you ever get that weird butterfly feeling in your stomach, like butterflies but unpleasant like heartburn? I hate when that happens.
Anyway I have a few questions. Have you always lived in the same city or town? maybe afraid of having some instability in life? Mainly for high schoolers, this field can be a scary wakeup call for some because it can be a hard test of your determination. That doesn't mean you cant do it but it does mean your going to have to surround yourself with a lot of supportive people.
