so i visited art center today for an appointment with a counselor there to discuss art center at night. but i still dont know if its worth it. i mean, i figure u can take similar classes like these at PCC so what makes acan so special? their credits do not transfer either. i dont know which to choose, acan or pcc. i really only want to take visual communication.

PCC is a excellent place to study at. ACAN classes can be expensive, but some are worth it. If your looking to take some intro to product classes with Stan Kong, you can take the same class at PCC with him. Same teacher, just cheaper. He also teaches a rendering class at PCC.
Vis. Comm classes at ACAN are good too. I've heard Petruska (sp?) is an excellent instructor.
It all depends on your drawing skills too. If you feel that you are not very strong, take classes at PCC to build up your skill. Then work your way to the product and rendering classes at PCC, and then consider the ACAN classes to get the most out of them.

hey cel
thats a pretty good idea. i know that acan is HELLA expensive, but my fear is that it wont be much more than pcc's out of state tuition cost. my best bet would be to go to pcc but i havnt talked to any counselors over there yet. i mean intro to product design doesnt sound like my thing, i want to focus more on the vital parts of my art than... 'concept designing', if thats what it is. any classes at pcc like visual communication from acan? im already planning to register for perspective and rendering, hoping i can add one more class.

Im not familiar with AC at Night or PCC,
but Stan Kong?
IMHO, I dont think he is the guy to teach you rendering or perspective.
Just my 2 cents.
I rather pay a guy from 5th term to teach you that stuff than Mr. Kong.
Good luck!

hey jun kim,
At the moment I can't think of a class that would be similar to ACAN vis comm. class, since its been a few years since I've been at PCC.
By the way, what major are you looking to get in to? I assume its trans. or product.

take ur time before starting art center. take stan kong's and albert yu's class at pcc. I took stan's class twice before i started art center at it really go me prepared. night classes are a little lame. the only ones that are worth it are steve eastwoods classes.

Just to let you know of whats coming up ahead...while basic perspective and rendering will help, its really your conceptual thinking ability and originality (specifically in solving problems) that will get you in. That alone can take time. Work hard and good luck!

i highly recommend viz comm. it will give you the tools needed for conceptualizing forms and boost your drawing abilities. I now think it would have been better off to start with viz comm & other basic classes (i.e. communication sketch)before taking on intro product/transportation design classes. if you want your car/prod projects to go into portfolio, you might as well do them right with the right tools.

now, i've never taken a perspective class but i've heard from previous instructors and car designers who have taught classes speaking nothing but extremely positive things.

Will start ACCD in Fall, 08
