Hello- I'm the wife of a car designer. His birthday is coming up and we really need to expand our library. He draws cars, so he is more art-focused than engineering. What are your top 10 or so books so I can pick something cool for his b-day?
For more on the history there is a book on Harley Earl, a John Lamm (Dave Holls may have been co-author)book on auto design and a recent book on Virgil Exner.
I would try "Cosmic Motors" by Daniel Simon. This guy is a cardesigner who decided to create his own world of vehicles and people. His book contains very nice drawings and some of the best Alias models I've ever seen. It's a good source for inspiration.
You can order the book off his website or you can go to "Design Studio Press". This website contains many art and design books for sale by the best designers and concept artists around. designstudiopress.com
