hi i hope someone can offer me some advice. i graduated from ucla with a degree in economics and towards my senior year, thought about pursuing my passion in automotive design. i now have been working for about 2 years or so at a sales company and am considering going to school and/or changing careers? any advice? would i have to start all over with 3 to 4 years of obtaining a bachelor's degree in transportation design? how competitive is the industry and likelihood of obtaining a job in southern california? how is the salary and hours and time involved? does anyone design for mercedes benz in ca, or are they only in alabama and germany? thanks for your help
MB does have a design studio here (irvine), you would have to start all over with your education.... unfortunately. you may get some classes transfered (at accd) but most likely not many. job situation in so-cal is not so good as there is no shortage of very talented people here. (i know of plenty well qualified individuals who are unemployed). your background may help you on the business side of things. at best if u are accepted tomorrow (to accd) it will take you 4+ years to graduate providing you take internships (currently they are important in obtaining a permanenet position).
good luck, you'll probably make more money in economics....... since you'll actually be able to afford the cars you like. if you feel like your soul is unhappy try taking some artcenter at night classes (www.artcenter.edu) see if you like the idea of living you dream (and always be prepeared for it to get shattered, thats the nature of being creative)
