hello i am a 2nd year I.D. student a Rochester Institute Of Technology, and i am transferring to CCS next fall. after talking to students and staff i am told that it is rare to transfer straight into the 3td year. so to increase my chances of not back tracking and having to waste a year of schooling i was wondering if any current 2nd or 3rd year students at CCS in the car design/ Industrial design program could tell me some projects that that they are working on now or past projects that will help me prepare for my study of Automotive/Car Design. but do to time constraints ( i was asked to re submit a new portfolio in the next couple of months because i got excepted last year on a common Fine Art Portfolio) could you concentrate on what you consider or your professors consider important projects, the ones that helped you excel the most.

Thank you.

John

Hey John,

If you want to graduate from the automotive design track, I'm quite certain you WILL start of at the sophomore level at best. Perhaps you will even be required to restart from the freshman level as many do. Unless you are exceptional and have a previous ID degree, you won't be admitted into the 2nd year Automotive prep program, let alone 3rd year. This is really for your own benefit, as if you were admitted, you wouldn't be very competitive with the rest of the class and would suffer greatly. Going an extra year is not wasting a year. I've decided to stay in school an extra year myself so I can have the best possible portfolio upon graduation. Hope that helps.

the (waste of a year) was said because of money, i am paying for school all by my lonesome ao an extra year would be to much, if its avoidable, and its not like im not taking classes in industrial design and the program is very good but if you could please just post some assignments i will at least be better prepared for what ever year i get put into(hopefully 3rd lol) but i would like the practice anyways. you help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time, John Butler

P.S. i enjoyed your quotes.

You can always look at my deviant art page (in my sig) to get a sample of the assignments we get. But they really do vary from class to class.
