Hi every one, I have a BCs degree in industrial design, but since my graduation ((6 years back)) I didn't work in my speciality, & I shifted to art direction in the advertising field, but since transportation design is my passion, Im handled the art direction for many automotive accounts in the gulf area such as Jaguar, land rover, ford & VW, I think my industrial roots is always pulling me back, so recently I'm preparing my portfolio, but what I have noticed that me being an art director & a industrial designer affected my designs to be within a brand look & feel. Im locating in Dubai & I don't know should I leave my career in advertising & target a good design school to complete my master degree or should I send my portfolio to car companies & see their feed back.. thanx
You could send stuff off but youll be lucky to get any feedback. Why dont you get your folio on here and Coroflot. You must have some idea on your own ability. It comes down to are you prepared to give it all up and go back to uni to do a masters?? Do you have something to fall back on as I dont mean to discourage you but as you proberly realise its a hard world getting a car design job at the mo. It could happen though! The one factor you will have going for you is given that you're older, (im guessing) is you may have a better attitude to working harder than alot of uni folk?
Hello there, I am new to this forum, so appreciate if you guys could help. I have just graduate in an Multimedia Design course and currently working in a non-design environment. I have decided to pursue a career in car design. What is the best move that I should take from here? I am prepared to do a Masters in Transportation Design but will my qualification Bachelor of Multimedia majoring in Interface Design be enough to gain entrance? I have basic knowledge on CAD, 3d Max and manual sketching and rendering (still enhancing my skills), will it be sufficient for an entrance? Thanks guys.
