I know IED well from my time in Italy from 1989 to 1999. It is a very good local school for aspiring Italian talent. Some students get hired outside of Italy, but this has to do mainly with those student's raw talent. It is not a school on most manufacturer's list for talent searches. The overall level of student excellence is higher in other schools. If you are going to travel so far to learn car design, you would be better served to travel a bit further for a more sought-after school.
i looked at their program and it looked pretty good, i was actually considering it over coventry, one of the reasons being its only 3 years, and a chance to perhaps work with pininfarina(which is a dream since childhood). only drawback is that from what i understand only the first year is taught in english and from there on it's in italian, and im not sure i could learn another language well enough to get 100% from the education, parallel to studies. so coventry? any more opinions? i suppose a lot has changed as well in the recent years. i mean i hear coventry is accepting more people than they can handle, maybe IED has improved since 1999? besides, ied is running a contest which may result in free tuition(contrary to 3000a year at coventry) are there any other good schools taught in english in europe(other than masters at umea, and rca)? i could go for both master or undergrad, since im in the middle of one industrial design course already.
