tahts cool man, im kinda glad my topic led to some differnet direction. im sure the way it is rite now is much better than talking about bad experiences u had with dogs and other animlas..coz im havin enough these days

you gotta love that boxer sound tho...does it shake to the right first when you start the car?
oh, sorry han...look what your dog started
yes my car roars man, it hates going slow , it sounds awesome but my brother's V6 164 sounds a more mean, but mine is manual so it's more fun to drive
yes Alfas are rare down here lol but i see a lot of the newer ones becoming more popular. I've had a lot of guys get distracted as a drive past and a few truckies have stuck their heads out of their windows at the lights to get a closer look!!(at the car )
Whoa, an alfa family i suppose? and my guess would be that dad drives a 166 2.4 JTD?
yeah, a V6 is a must-have, but an auto stick?
you are better off. for sure.
it's funny though that with newer alfas becoming more popular... after all, the new models aren't true alfas. they're still ok, but, well, just not that special. still don't like going slow, but that's just fine with me
well, speaking of cars, it is kind of a sad moment today, since it is a Friday evening and my baby is at the mechanics for the weekend. seems the clutch got fried so i'm stuck.home.on a friday night.yuck.
so han, don't feel too bad, at least a 92 dodge works just fine and you are not stuck at home on a Friday night because of some lousy italian craftsmanship (which you have to admit HAS got soul)
j4ka, geez a fried clutch that has to be expensive, what type of car do you have?
No, my dad dosn't have an alfa he drives a Holden Rodeo, but he always takes the sprint and 164 for a spin when he feels like it, seeing as he was the one who bought them and fixed them up
speaking of spins, i took my little spirnt for a spin at Albert Park yesterday to celebrate the end of exams . You probably know this but Albert Park is the Melbourne street circuit for the Australian Formula 1 Grandprix. I was dissapointed though because the speed limit was 50km/h so i couldn't be an italian race driver, and i could tell by the engine sounds that my sprint was pissed off!!
then i drove to the pitlane and start finish line and it was all blocked off but i dropped an awesome italian style u turn on the pit exit
well, it is a '98 alfa 145. not the boxer, but the 1.6 twin spark.. the clutch is quite an expensive job, but the car does have 180k km on the clock (about 110k miles) so it still seems kind of reasonable, since nothing major went wrong so far... except for the interior lights, which have a mind of their own.oh, and the engine doesn't like cold morning starts, followed by morning rush hour.and...
you gotta love the experience though
i will never forget the car i had before though. a silver alfa 75, known as "milano" on some markets. oh, the joys of rear wheel drive...so i guess that makes me a bit of an alfa romeo fanatic.
I don't blame your dad. seems to be only fair that he drives them occasionally.
wow, albert park! that sounds promising, although for a "proper" driving experience driving in town is, well, crap. and your sprint knows it you should go for a spin out of town. it always cures all sorts of rattles under my alfa's bonnet, strangely
a bit of an Alfa Fanatic?, that’s ok by me It's hard to find Alfa Fanatics here in Melbourne. No one around my age seems to drive them; they always seem to be middle aged men or older women who must have rich husbands.
So your Alfa interior lights have a mind of there own?? all i can say is join the club Most fo the lights in my car had to be replaced because at night, we had no hope of knowing what speed the sprint was doing because the dash was so dark!! So my brother installed some LEDs into the dash and its all good now Also speaking of Alfa parts with minds of there very own my brother’s 164 Speedo only worked when it felt like it until he found the problem, which was a faulty connection. And as for the cold mornings, don't worry my sprint doesn’t like getting woken up in the cold, but once i rev him a few times he feels better
Wow a silver Alfa 75 that must have been something to drive!! especially with rear wheel drive. My sprint is front wheel drive, and boy do i have some exciting stories about driving that!! once i almost my killed my self once taking off from the lights!! Don’t ask!!
I would love to take the sprint for a spin down at Phillip Island but i have to look into it.
Btw, i hope your '98 Alfa 145 gets well soon!! I can't imagine what it would be like being without an Alfa for more than a day
it sucks being without my car...AND it started snowing today.AND all my friends are eager to go on a deserted industrial estate to test the hand brakes. AND i can't go.grrrrr...
ah well, Tuesday is soon to come, i just hope the snow will last that long.
I have a quicker fix to the interior and dash: tap the dash just right and suddenly everything works just fine. for a while i can see how fast i am going... in general, alfas have a habit of fixing themselves.gotta love em!
don't worry because of lack of fellow alfisti though; it is no so much different in Ljubljana, although there ere quite a few alfas around, few people think it is a good idea to own one.i wonder why....
by the way, I'm curious; is there a photo of your sprint anywhere one can see?
testing handbrakes in the snow? woah thats sounds extreme!! too bad it doesn’t snow where i live :P
i can imagine you are missing you Alfa a lot , i felt the same when mine had to get fixed because it was leaking petrol.
ok here are some pics of my Alfa Sprint, i took these photos for my photography assignment this year, i had to make them smaller than what they were because my internet is slow.
no, nothing extreme...just practising handbrake turns in the snow, for safety reasons you see... you ought to try it sometime...it is very similar to driving on gravel, minus the damage to the paint, undercarriage etc. anyway, it feels excellent!
cool photos! thanx! it looks as though your dad did an excellent restoration job. biiig respect!
i just spoke with my mechanic and the car will be ready tomorrow morning, first thing. Yeeeeeeeey! i made it through the weekend so the tough part is over.
it is funny... han, i thank your dog for starting this debate.
