Though, i would hate this to be my first post it irritates me to a great extent when people say something like this. It leaves me to the conclusion; a)you have no real understanding of music b)you are ignorant and closeminded or c) most likely uninformed as to the real genre that you state you so highly despise. (this being "rap")
I can almsot certainly be sure that you are reffering to "commercial and gangsta" rap, as heard by the majority of the public. I could easily write an encyclopadia on the misconceptions and mis understadning on "rap" however i dont have the time at the moment, should you wish to discuss what i have said any further please contact me. As i love to discuss music and try and open people up to other things, not to mention try to correct them on all their ideas. yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion, however i believe this to be irrelevant when the opinion is biased and the person uninformed about the subject at hand.
Personally i "love all types of music" or at least i can appreciate the skill and talent (where it is due) of the individuals performing them. My favourite genres are mainly all types of rock and metal, and hip hop. My least favourite genres are commercialised music with no meaning and made purely to sell. (yes this does include artists from the genres i like) I take my music VERY seriously, which is probably not for the better.
as a side note. I WAS a close minded fool when i was younger but meeting an Emcee ('rapper') first hand at my last place of employment, i gained a GREAST respect for the genre and becasue of that i am now more interested in producing and emceeing than playing drums as i had previously done in bands. I still witness the whole "rap hating" stage with my younger brother.

If you want to find out the worst thing that could ever happen to an artist you have to read blink by an author named malcolm? (i forgot his last name), it shows how you can get screwed in the record biz if your too different.
I just relized that this topic has been going for a year now. WOW. inever though anything i made would last this long.
Emil i understand your point, but there are alot of guys who just dont like hiphop, im not oneof them, i was raised on hiphop, i just kinda drifted away.
