White Stripes are a big one. Justice (not the hardcore screaming rock group), MSTRKRFT, Sebastian, Frank Sinatra, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Daft Punk, and the entire Ed Banger crew.
Its good to see the french dance scene taking up where it left off mid-90's; will this be the wave that electroclash could have been? Who cares, Justice, SebastiAn, Mehdi are turning out some of the filthiest cuts around for our amusement.
Has anyone seen Electroma yet?
Is anyone else rocking the Taqwacore either? With probably the best band name EVER Deaf Punk And Muslim have been making my ears bleed for a minute and there a whole raft of similarly theme islamic punk out there. Its good work.
Other hot tips might be Ligeti's Lux Aeterna, Tod Dockstaders organised sound, the new They Might Be Giants album, some classic Moroder italo from the Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack, Coh's mix on the Global Goon series (and his own freezing beats on Electric Electric), the recent Ceephaz Acid Crew breezeblock (long live acid), Warren Zevon, Evax and Peet Seeger. And an interesting early 90's mixtape by Rob Brown from Autechre thats doing the rounds.
