Aren't ford in some trouble aswell?

Ford suffers from problems in US
Fords Equity

The boss of general motors and other executives have cut their salaries.
With TVR as they are a small company, in lets face it, a niche market they may sell up or downsize because demand is low and them downsizing shows their in trouble.
Im the UK the cost of living is going up and people cant afford car loans, insurance and such sports cars. America arent having that trouble are they???
Personally i think if there is demand in the US, TVR should open more showrooms in wealthier parts of the states where there is demand. But there is alot of risk involved and the cost of exporting would depend on the strength of the pound....if the pound was weak against the dollar then they could export cheap.

Yes i do AS Business Studies and im predicted A/B! hehe....gd bit of revision that was!

Gawd! As you said Trevor is a niche market company but don't you know anything?? If the sell more in the US they will have to alter the car drastically, like jack it up, put big rubber bumpers on it and get a new engine! Look at the hideous MGBs of the late 70s - early 80s, and the Lotus Elise with a Toyota engine fitted! then you will understand

I hear on the grapevine that there is more to this than meets the eye.

I think they have to move for finacial reasons, possibly due to the factory owner wanting more rent etc than they are willing to pay.

So hopefully TVR will set up someplace else, but that takes time and money, and production has to come to a near halt to do it.

I really hope they dont go under, but lets not jump to conclusions based on media spin.

I think you'll find that TVR was;

"founded in 1947 by Trevor Wilkinson, under the name of Trevcar Motors. In 1954, Wilkinson changed the name of the company by taking three consonants of his first name for the company name."

So their you go, not arguing though. I promise!

One of the reasons being thrown about is that the Bristol Avenue plant is on a long-term lease and it is coming to the point where the lease needs to be re-newed, they figure it might be better to let the lease run out and move to a site that is logistically better suited.

TVR are also planning to bring out a whole new range of cars that are US-Legal. These represent something of a paradigm shift in the TVR production process and to fully equip the factory with the new machinery required it could well mean that the factory needs to be gutted. If that is the case then relocating to a new facility will be easier.

The sticking point is around Blackpool (eh? not just casino's and condom machines?), the job losses and the possibility that relocation could be overseas.
