That latest discussion only ads fuel to the absolutely obscene self rightiousness the Brits have about any British designer.
Sure, how can you not be proud of having your whole British car industry ran into oblivion, losing jobs to tens of thousands, and thereby forcing "the Brits" to bemoan their unfortunate situation and tell everyone who does not want to know how great "the mainland" is, in contracting jobs at factories all over the world.
If the U.K. and the Brits were so damn good, why not proof the bloody point and set up a profitable car company which produces cars that do not break down, that have quality and that do look half way decent, companies that do pay their bills and not file for bankruptcy while their bosses bath themselves in Millions of non-Euro Pounds?
Then we can talk about how great the Great Britains are. until then, stick a sock in it.
I think this post is rather over the top as not all Brits or British Designers think this way.
Your profile says that you are a designer so you should be aware that there are many talented Uk designers working all over the world for various manufacturers along side many other nationalitys. I have not noticed this attitude from other designers.
It is a shame our 'home grown indusrty' is now almost extinct. But we still have studios :- jag, ford, Nissan, Aston, Landrover etc
Be also aware that it may be enthusiasts and students posting on this forum more than actual Car designers, who give this overtly ' we are the best image' - just use some common sense.
I would be careful starting up posts that will cause huge slanging matches as its not very professional.

Poor chile, she doesnt realiser virtually every auto design team in the world has Brits working in it.
Why all this hostility towards us brits? You seem to have taken the whole forum thing to heart a little too much, rounded up every brit into a big pidgeon hole and stuck a label on it. Bit short sighted I reckon.
Lets not associate british designers with british car companies. Head of design at Bentley is from Belgium, the Rolls Phantom came courtesy of Mr Djordevic (correct me if i'm wrong) and design chief at Aston this month I believe is a German.
Personally I wouldn't class all Brits as t**ts, just the ones that wear polo necks and have their thumb and index finger super-glued to their chins.

You are not neccesarily talking about British Designers here, you are talking about the Mehcanical Engineers who are responsible for producing reliable and effiecient engines, you may want to go and talk to them. Also....there is no garauntee of all the workers being british as Britain has a very diverse culture.
