i could bang on all day about how bad american design is, but i wont cos that last guy said he liked us so im in a good mood.
the basic fact is, even though the british car industry in manufacturing terms is sinking down the u-bend faster than blamage can say "wah wah wah i weally hate those bwitish", our designers are spread out all over the world, secretly transforming every manufacturer into a "british" company. its like a big british virus slowly taking over the world, with jeremy clarkson playing blofeld and richard hammond as his cat. sorry thats just my fantasy!
GO TEAM BRITAIN!

Wonder since when D stands for USA? I really don't see any correlation at all.

Dakota! Delaware! DC as in Washington! Dallas!
Maybe German? Deutschland?
Ah ha! Some germans(BMW) messed up the last ounce of the British car industry! They stole the mini idea off poor MG/Rover and stole some of the ye olde british car maker's names!
PS I am part German! Havent got anything against Germans!

Da USA right? But seriously, you misunderstood! Our advanced anal ysis of your lame speech patterns, in particular the use of phrases like "stick a bloody sock in it", suggests you are either British or worse emulate a British dialect for our benefit. Which renders your anti-Brit stance even more unfortunate and desperate-sounding.

This entire thread was invented with the explicit intent of offending British designers. Why shouldn't we have our say in return?
Hey kid, next time you want my help just shine my symbol (an image of me ****** into your soupcan-sized ****) on the night sky. KAPOW!

Opinions are not always formed and expressed solely to hurt others. Some are just made to vent dissatisfaction or objection to a certain thing or idea. So, if you guys have a problem with that, I would obligate you to start a "Yanks suck" thread and rip on us too.

Frankly someone making nation wide assertions about the quality of enginering should ask themselves, when was the last time the united states made a 2litre engine break 180 miles an hour, or even put an engine under 4 litres in a car. Sure we dont have the type of economy to support lower wage employees and thats why we dont have a manufacturing industy, but remember the mercedes slr was designed, not in Germany but in Spain, by British designers.
I don't know where you live as your not telling anyone, so I can't assume you're from the US but take my points at face value anyway.

actually, Id say the Brits are far more passionate about design than Italians are these days. a great number of truly headturning supercars are designed by Brits. Ferrari OTOH, has faltered and made osme very forgettable entries lately. But can you ever forget the Db9 or Vanquish? Hell no. Nor can you get the image of a TVR Sagaris out of your mind. Its so wickedly badass it haunts your dreams. Britain in general is a great spawning place for specialist car makers, and htus home to osme of the most unique and exciting car designs Ive yet seen.

Doesn't my location say "USA"? The last time we made an engine less than two liters was probably the last time we used liters as a measurement, which would be, like, never. That's because the American public as a whole, in my opinion, is somewhat arrogant about having big, gas-sucking oil-mobiles. Yes, I'm cynical, but why can't we get some small cars over here?
