What do you think the transportion systems of the future will be? Is it going to be cars? Is it going to be aircrafts? Is it going to be a single type of system, like a hybrid between a car, an aircraft and a boat?
In my personal opinion, I think cars and aircrafts will disappear (well, as we know them in the current time), and the vehicle of the future will have features from a car, an aircraft and a boat all together...
Are we talking 20 years from now or more like a 100 years? I think in 20 years there will be advances in hybrid and electrical technology, but the concept of the car will still be the same. I think in the far future we will see things like computer guided driving, maybe incorperated into something like a maglev track, or maybe a hovercraft kind of design. I think we'll be floating around in the future..

Well... I was thinking of a very far future; you're right: the current concept of car will remain the same for a while.
Quite interesting the idea of floating... like "The fifth Element" movie, for instance? I think the same; in the end, we will continue limited as long as we keep our transportation systems bounded to the soil. We will only need to improve the navigation technology.
