If you wants to design a car in Catia v5 then I have a good news for you. After reading This tutorial you will find that designing a car was never been easier.
You are about to learn some effective techniques to set reference image in Catia v5 .So that you can take reference easily within Catia environment. There are some unique feature in Catia v5 for setting reference like Catia V5 Sketch Tracer tool. But it is not allows us to set reference images like traditional Car designer's style. And to accomplish this style I search for a new way. Finally I got a very powerful approach to setup the reference image in Catia v5 and it is working. I am going to share with you the Ideas and approaches that I have used.
There are several reasons why I believe that Catia v5 is very effective tool for designing a car. We can find a lot of tricks and techniques in Catia to get a high quality class A surface. No need to spend most of our time and energy to get any advanced shapes .The integration of Generative Shape Design and free style gives us a lot of options for design a complex shapes .There are a lot of freedom for creating and editing 3d curves. In addition to the fact that I have been in Catia sense last five years serving for leading aerospace and automotive companies. I never got any thing impossible in Catia v5.
I have started this model by tacking reference from a blue print of Audi A3. And have used Maya for rendering. I have spend a lot of time in learning Maya from tutorial sites. Migrating the model from Catia to Maya is very top . Yes Okino Computer Graphics is a leading provider of high quality and industry respected 3D data translation and photo-realistic rendering software. PolyTrans-for-Maya and PolyTrans-for-MAX are one of the very useful products of Okino Computer Graphics. This plug-in for Maya will help you to import not only cat part files but also All Major 3D CAD formats. like Lightwave, Softimage-XSI, IGES, SAT, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA v4, CATIA 5, DirectX, DXF/DWG files, JT Open, Parasolid, Pro/Engineer, Renderman RIB, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, STEP, and many, many Others inside Maya. There are a lot of functionality of this product.
eventually we will get a very high quality light polygonal model with very high resolution. Mapping and Shaders can apply easily which you can use directly for film and gaming industry. You can download this 3d car model .I kept it in both IGAS and mb. format. I have make it free for you. You can use it for your project. I have spend my lot of valuable time for this model. Your feedback is very important to me. If you’d like to share anything about the experiences with these models and tutorials please E-mail me: db.catia@gmail.com

I'm sorry, but your tutorial is not the easiest way to do this.
If you have acess to the Catia V5 Sketch Tracer tool, you can insert any scanned or "borrowed from the internet" .jpg files right into your assembly and begin drawing over the top of it using Catia's Freestyle tool.
You can even resize your imported pictures to match your model without setting up a boundary box as you do in your tutorial.
I would know. I've been doing it for years. I'm something like a Catia Expert.
This website is THE source for all Catia students. You can get access to their Student tutorials simply by signing up with proof of your school ID. These are increadible tutorials! You can even get a one year license of Catia for 75 bucks direct through Dassault. Completely legal and legit. Catia is a MAD EXPENSIVE software. If you're in the industry like I am and you know anything about this, you'll know what a great opportunity Dassault is giving you. Check it out.
Catia V5 Sketch Tracer tool is good for the case where you need to take reference from a single view. But it is difficult to set multiple views in sketch tracer tool. This tutorial is a good approach to trace from multiple views.
There's this little box at the bottom of the interface that allows you to set catia to an exact view like left front and back. If you set the view before you put the sketch in with sketch tracer, you can get as many sketches as you'd like for every view. I've put in sketches of my cars as well as "benchmark" cars that have packages I'm working to over the top. Crank the transparency up and you can see them both at once. You can also grab the sketches and move them around normal to the plane they were introduced on if you should need to use them as a developmental section. Your method works, it's just not the best method. That's all I'm trying to say. It's kind of like using a hammer to drive a screw.
Thank You Guitarslinger79 for Your Feedback and for giving your valuable time to share your ideas. In order to givinging respect to your ideas I have written this tutorial

Catia is a tool, it makes a realisation of a 3D form clearer. It doesn't allow you to DESIGN cars.
