Hi all, new to this site, and thought I would share some of my work with you.
The following pictures are the result of the past 9 months work for the Engineering Design module of my Motorsports Engineering degree, undertaken at Oxford Brookes university.
I estimate the model has taken me somewhere in teh region of 300 hours during this 9 month period, including design of the chassis and suspension.
While I understand there are better CAD packages available for this kind of design, Solidworks is the first I have learnt and is what I use regularly at work. I will be learning to use Pro-E, Inventor and CATIA V5 in the next couple of months.
The car was intended as a closed canopy single seater trackday/race car. I did not work from sketches, I developed the model from a solid block, improving my CAD skills as I went, and ended up with this. It is rendered using the built in Photoworks render engine in Solidworks. While I understand people do not think much of this and use other applications, I am fairly happy with the results it has provided, but will endevour to learn a new render package soon, possibly Hypershot.
I would welcome your comments on the design.
