Hi
You can render your quick designs in Phtoshop in 2d.so you can render your designs in CATIA in 3d.and i think it's not simple to use 3DSMAX because 3dsmax is for general use and that's not suitable in this case.

hy, yea. I used photoshop to make 2d draws, but if you can, test the alias studiotools. It has an utility to draw over a 3d model or a 2d sketch

hy Manolo, in Argentina it's imposible for an Studiant to buy any software for design
1 euro=3,70 pesos. So you have to find other alternative

You could download and use the Alias Studio Tools Personal Learning Edition for free. Do the tutorials etc. You would be learning what the car design industry uses...

@ alejandro:

Yea, ur right. It's also in Germany too expensive. I'm 19 and still in school and car designing is just my hobby. so I definitely can't buy such an expensive prog as alias...

@ brett:

Thanks. thats quiet a good idea!

Studio Tools is one very powerful program. I use ProEngineer for all my design projects, and Maya or Studio Tools. I can suggest combination of ProE and Alias products especially now because Alias implement Granite – Granit is native ProE file – Which mean that you can import everything from ProE into Maya, or Studio. Studio is one of main programs for design research and design evaluation. Also very powerful in case of design and animations also.
That is only one of important things, which must be evaluated in case of important decisions. If someone needs some additional info – ask freely.

Ps I mention ProE because when you put Rhino and ProE side by side, you get a picture where Rhino is child toy and ProE is one toll for professionals.

Hi all!
First of all I'd like to say that 3dsmax with Brazil r/s (I'm using ver. 1.2.52) is a great solution for hi-fi renderings. You can find some tutorials for REALISTIC renderings, metallic car paints' set-ups etc in I-net.
Novadays, I'm interested in concept modeling, I've downloaded Alias Studio PLE 12 (PLE - personal learning edition) and got small problem. Maybe, someone who uses Alias Studio can share the technique how to create 3d model from 2d sketches. There's an offer on alias.com - DVD with Painting and Sketching tutorials for 130 EURO (generaly, not acceptable for a student), please, if you have some skills in it - could you write a tutorial. I'd be very thankful
