hye,

I'm a student product design from belgium. I'm in my second year now. we've learned to model with Rhino first, wich i didnt like at all. than we learned how to model with Solidworks, wich goos waaay better for me. The problem is that i dont really now witch the best renderer is for solidworks. Should i Import files in 3Dstudio max(if that's possible), ore does anybody know the best way to render some very good solidworks models??
now, i just import solidwork files int Rhino, to render it with Flamingo, but i'm not very happy with the results.

thanx,

Hi Depolle
I have not worked with solidworks so far,but i think it probably has it's own renderer. You should 1st find for it's renderer, produced by the solidworks corporation.Second about rendering in 3ds Max or each other software you should save your modeling works in a format that the format is common in both 2 softwares, therefor you can render your design in another software you want. Some softwares are really good in rendering,e.g. you can use from Alias to render your model.I have heared that Alias is one of the best softwares in designing.

You can send me email if you want:

Save as an IGES or STL and then import into Max. You'll get much better results that way. I use Inventor and SolidWorks everyday and hate their built in renderings. Use a true rendering program and you'll get better results.

As for Rhino and Flamingo... I've never been really happy with the renderings personally... They always seem to turn out better if you switch to a better program. The Rhino company has branched into too many components and they don't carry the same functionality or quality of results that some other packages do
