Can anyone tell me about an automotive design educational programs that are focused on 3D design. I’ve been thinking advanced 3D modeling would be too difficult for the vast majority of artists, so I’m open to graduate-level programs. I'm not really sure where to start looking.

Automotive design school focused on 3D design don't think so graduate or un-grad. Having artistic engineering style of design earn by experience. Web sit shows car, truck, jets all Automotive quality at Ford PDC. What focus of 3d product design, molds, CNC, surface development, Enviroment render, lense flares, Stl polygon advance 3D modeling you need help with? Render, Morphing or CNC Machining examples link below

aman_s1ngh: would still be interested in getting this info. I'll try to remember to fill you in if I find anything. I'm an extremely proficient NURBS modeler already, 100% self taught, but I was curious if there was any education specifically related to 3D Modeling automotive concepts for CNC Machining. I’ve heard people talking about curvature/tangency requirements and stuff like that on this board.

Kag65: I’m not sure I understood what you said. My interest is CNC Machining.

Hello Jon,
I suggest you look for courses given by the company who produces your software.
Problem is that if you are a self taught NURBS modeller you may not know how to built high quality surfaces (I'm a self taught NURBS modeler also but learned more working with ICEM users and courses, etc.) and you learn a lot from those courses. Some are also more CNC orientated. Most design schools programms are to "simple" and just orientated in getting you going.

Look into Gnomon3D school of visual effects. This school is known for putting out some great Maya modelers. As far as the auto-design, you will be able to explore the areas of conceptual design, which should include Vehicles, Characters, Environments and such.

check out www.gnomon3d.com
or google them

and look through their courses, both analog and digital so you understand what they offer.

I hope that helps.
