Even though I have been dealing with complex and Class A standards surfaces and few software capable of doing such tasks for some time, still I appreciate a light and fast 3D modeler suitable for conceptual design and quick modeling in 3D. MoI (Moment of Inspiration) has been under development by Michael Gibson and is promising to fit in this category. Especially for designers who used to work with a pen tablet. The latest Beta can be downloaded from the link below.
Still any feedback from designers in particular can help the developer to fine tune the software to meet better the designers' needs.
Another effort is FreeDimension by FreeDesign Inc, somehow a different approach to surface and solid modeling. More information available from their site and the link below.
