T-Splines sounds promising. I've been tested it since its first release. Though it's still too young I invite experienced industrial designers who themselves deal with their digital models look into it an feed the developer back with their comments and wish lists for features which could be useful for surface modeling and industrial designers dealing with complex surfaces and wishing for much more control and simplicity over their concepts' surfaces. currently being developed for Maya an Rhino I see a much more appeal and potential for utilizing this technology for industrial design as well as animation industry.
