That is some amazing work! im really diggin that first truck. Very good rod designs. What are you using to render yours? As you can see this picture is done using a pencil, and yes the rear wheel isnt very elliptical but it wouldn't fit on the damn page!
damn thats a cool rod...so how did you get into rods?, you own one yourself?, i built a volksrod over the summer its been a lot of fun!...you doing sketches for people?, you usually find the hot rod community love sketches and renderings! top job!

cheers bud...i use photoshop, but i just got hold of corel painter 9 and thats great for realistic marker/paint work, its a very clever program...but mostly photoshop, i draw the outlines by hand, scan them in and then use the channels to get it so i can work behind my line work, then i use my tablet/light pen and use the airbrush tools to paint all the colour, its a long process but it gets good results! its the same as painting it with normal paint but you can always undo your mistakes in photoshop..haha!

No id love to own a rod but unfortunately im only just 17 and learnin to drive, which makes the insurance a nightmare! I've been reading mags like custom car, street machine, street rodder (imported US mag, ie v. rare!) and watching films like American Graffiti, also going to american car shows since i was little. there are even a few rods around mine. I know someone who owns a bug, not a rod but still cool, and theres a bright orange t bucket around somewhere! Im also a "ricer" i suppose, cause if you look at my msn group http://groups.msn.com/Drawingmodifiedcars/newrenderings.msnw?Page=Last you will see hondas and mitsis as well as old fords and rods. I like to say that im not biased towards either, and have an equally large knowledge of both! If you can recommend any rod community forums, or anywhere to send my work i will be very grateful. feel free to join my msn group, or email me on uncle_terry8851@hotmail.com. Thanks
BTW i love beetle rods, they kinda got me interested in "rat rods" in the first place.
ahh i see, yup insurance is a nightmare but build yourself a volks rod...cheap parts easy to build with basic tools, i built mine without any welding and its only got a tiny 1200 motor in the back (till i get a bigger one), keeps your insurance costs low!....heres my rod for refference:
few pics from deva show, it was its first outing and won a top ten prize! i was well chuffed!...as for forums...i'm on http://www.hoodride.com and http://www.volksrods.com both these forums/sites are full of cool people, and cool cars...i'm sure they'd love to see some of your work! i'm down as joedirt on those too if your looking for me!

Oh yeah dont get me wrong id love one, and im familier with volksrods.com. I simply don't have the time or money to build a rod until i get past uni i think! For the moment im going to settle with my 1.1 Fiesta, and jsut stick some better speakers in it! yeah ill take a look at hoodride and probably join the forums eventually. Are you familier with http://www.zoomie.com ? An amazing source for american hot rod show pictures. That and street rodder magazine (which also has a sebsite that temporarally escapes me) are my main source of inspiration.
Some amazing designs there. I love the lights on number 4 (going from top to bottom, so thats fourth one down) and the grille on number six. Also the exhaust on the one right at the bottom. i think you've captured the spirit of rodding in all of them, hilst making them all look modern. Some great concepts, the most inovative feature would be the the long wide grille on number five! Certainly different! Nice to see some attention in this sketch group once again, thanks!
Just a quick sketch here done during lessons at college. Kind of started of with thinking about how prominent front fenders can work on a modern design, and making them trianglular instead of round! So heres my futuristic boat-tail design.
