I had no idea that 'designers' were quite this petty minded and geeky as to spam a contest website out of commission. Do you realise how amateurish this reaction looks? Its hilarious!
The companies put on awards competitions to expose fresh talent to the benifit of all concerned and the sore-loser losers who didnt like that their hopeless pencil 'renderings' hadnt been picked hacked the site?
The companies need semi-literate 16-yEAr OLDS!!!!! like they need massive litigation or bird flu; not at all.
Proper designers are still going to get work; isnt that right boys? (Cheers from the watching crowd) HUZZAH!

I must have read hundreds of posts on the peugeot contest, but none of them were about how someone was grateful to peugeot for the prize money or the wonderful opportunitys they offered as the prize. Most of them were hate mail or how dumb the concours was. The only people who where really positive were guys from Portugal, the country of the winner. Why should anyone spend money on a design contest if there will be 1 winner who will like the sponsor and hundreds of losers who will hate the sponsor and tell people how bad the contest was? if there is another peugeot contest they should only allow professional automobile designers to enter, and they must have a job designing cars, not some car designer wannabee who is mad because he cant get a job.

Only allow professional car designers, specifically those in work at the time of the contest, to compete and you remove the exact reason they exist; to encourage young designers with promise to show their skills and get known. Isnt that sort of obvious?

Don't all rush at once.
I got a competition for you: your first thought to shut up and get off this industry. your the only loser and a winner.

There will be a new design contest in 2006. ANFIA has announced a new contest with a 1st prize of 5000 euros. The details are on their website. Its only open to 16-20 year olds, who are not professional designers. Lets see how the kids screw up this contest.

Its insulting to stereotype certain age groups, not to mention the fact that you were part of this age group. Why are you so negative?

The winner gets his car in the autoshows and its put into production as a toy car. Costas is now a world famous designer, and he has professional experiance that he can put on his resume. So many other guys did something that was better according to their own interpretation of the theme. So peugeot wound up pissing off hundreds of people who designed a car and lost to a vacuum cleaner. If there going to make people angry there is no justification to spend money to sponsor a contest.
Quite Right!

Re. ANFIA contest. I'm sorry I was rude. ANFIA is commiting age discrimination, by not allowing you to enter if you're too young or old. I dont know if the guys who ruined other design contests were kids but they acted like they were. they may have been old, but they were still very immature.

Its okay.
The whole point of it was to give young, non-professional and aspiring designers(?) a chance for some exposure. In the regs it says specifically that you cannot qualify if you work as a designer. I also think the minimum age restriction is a bit stupid...though the maximum age restrictions actually makes some sense. A guy whos 30 would already have a career; i doubt he would change career all of a sudden (though they might, as the prize money is nice and its always fun) because he won a competition that does not guarantee anything.
What do you guys/girls think of this?
Im entering this comp...im 16!
