Hi everyone, DesignerTechniques has now put online its third design competition. This one offers a wide selection of prizes from Letraset, including markers from their popular Tria range. The winners will also recieve signed copies of DesignSketching as well as have their work published in a popular weekly UK magazine. One of the most exciting prizes though is that the first placed winner will be able to send his or her folio to Kristofer Hansen, the chief designer at Scania Trucks AB in Sweden for personal guidance and feedback!
Good to hear you like the brief. Thought some of you may be interested in seeing some inspiration for the competition too. Its a concept truck from Volvo in sweden,
HEY! Does anybody know some good site for truck concepts? Like CDN...but its mostly normal size cars..you know? Something for inspiration. Some good picture as sample for us beginners. THX
This is an excellant idea for a contest. ,as long as designer techniques does not claim it is an original one. ( motor trend did this theme ) With a contest like this one going on, there is no reason to waste time on other design contests. If you are working on an entry for splitwheel, Michelin Challenge Design, or one of the contests done at speedanddesign.net, I recommend you stop work imediately and start drawing trucks! Just search thru your hard drive for another project you have already done, and change the logo, so it looks like you have made it specifically for one of the aforementioned contests, then submit it. Believe me, the wankers who run those contests will never know the difference. besides the car industry is dying, eventually all car designers will have to learn to design trucks or they will be out of work.
Just a few links. I dont know of any CDN like site about trucks but i do have a few suggestions of some usefull sites. The first two are links to the image banks at Volvo trucks and Scania trucks. They are very comprehensive, and have high res pictures. The last one is to a blog run by the editor of Commercial Motor magazine. Hope its usefull
